Maps

The maps on masjids' pages, city pages and "near you" are drawn from map files kept on muslim.blue itself, so no map company sees which masjid you looked at.

  • OpenStreetMap: The map data: streets, water and parks, by OpenStreetMap contributors. Under the Open Database License.
  • Protomaps: The map tiles and the map style our colors are drawn on, kept on our own address. Under the BSD 3-Clause License for its code and CC0 for its style.
  • MapLibre GL JS: The code that draws our live maps in your browser. Under the BSD 3-Clause License.

Masjid listings

Every masjid is listed from public records until the people who run it claim its page. Where a listing's facts come from OpenStreetMap, the pages that show them credit OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License.

Photographs of a masjid are its own, sent by the people who run it. A stock photograph is credited where it appears.

Type and icons

  • Headings are set in Literata, by TypeTogether, under the SIL Open Font License.
  • Arabic is set in Noto Naskh Arabic, by Google, under the SIL Open Font License.
  • Most icons are from Lucide, under the ISC License. The rest are drawn by us on the same grid.
